macOS (in-house)

Turns family videos from a photo library into edited YouTube uploads, then looks after them.

Cloud2Tube is an in-house tool. It runs on one Mac and works only with our founder's own YouTube channels. It is not a public service: there is nothing to download and no sign-up.

Family and everyday videos pile up in the photo library. Cloud2Tube picks out the good moments, edits them into Shorts and vlogs, and uploads them to the right channel on a schedule. After upload it keeps titles, descriptions and comments in order.

What it does

  • Organizes the photo library. It indexes about 13,000 items and groups clips into events. Once a backup is verified, it tidies the library step by step to free up iCloud space.
  • Routes to the right channel. Each channel has its own profile: concept, language, priority and publishing schedule. People recognition decides which channel a clip belongs to.
  • Edits with AI. Claude judges events, finds highlight segments and plans Shorts and vlogs. ffmpeg renders them with background music and subtitles in English and Korean, burned in for Shorts.
  • Runs itself. A worker goes from planning to render, review, scheduled publishing, comment replies and metrics, with an approval screen on the phone and alerts.
  • Manages the channel. It audits and cleans up metadata on existing videos. It saves a snapshot first so every change can be undone, and resumes the next day if the API quota runs out. It also sorts comments, such as spam and harassment, and hides them only after approval.

Built to be safe

  • The default mode sends nothing out. Every external write needs two switches: enabled, and not a dry run.
  • Child-safety rules leave out certain scenes and hashtags per channel. Every video passes an AI review, and the first few on each channel also need a person's approval.
  • A daily AI budget, a quota ledger that reserves YouTube API quota per channel, and an emergency stop. When a limit is reached, it stops cleanly and picks up the next day.
  • Only reversible actions run automatically.

Under the hood

Python 3.11 · Flask · Huey task queue · SQLite · ffmpeg · Claude API · YouTube Data and Analytics APIs. It runs locally on a Mac with an external drive.

It started in September 2025 as a small web app that joined iCloud videos. Version 2.0, a full rebuild, arrived in October 2026 with about 860 tests.
